Zilker Park

Zilker Metropolitan Park is a recreational area in south Austin spanning over 350 acres at the junction of Barton Creek and the Colorado River. It was donated to the city by Andrew Jackson Zilker in 1917 and developed into a park during the Great Depression in the 1930s. Visitors can enjoy a hub for recreational activities, including the hike and bike trail around Lady Bird Lake. The park’s large size makes it a venue for major events such as the Austin City Limits Music Festival and the Zilker Park Kite Festival. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
