Tsukimi, or moon viewing, has been a popular pastime in Japan for centuries. Traditionally, tsukimi is celebrated with music and poetry while appreciating the beauty of the moon harvest moon. Later, rice offerings were made to express gratitude for a good harvest. Today's celebrations bring these customs together. Nature Oasis: Community Bonfire at Hayes
See your local park in a new light! The Nature Oasis Community Bonfire Series invites community members to experience their park by firelight. Spend the evening in the park meeting your neighbors, learning about local wildlife and warming up next to a fire! Unfortunately, we are not able to provide marshmallows just yet, but please feel welcome to bring your own and we will provide the roasting sticks. Join us within the first 15 minutes of the event for a brief lesson on campfire building.
Fall Equinox at NPV
Join us for a relaxed evening of live music and open trails are we celebrate the Fall Equinox at the North Park Village Nature Center. Enjoy a special evening and explore the trails at dusk accompanied by the sounds of the Emily Kuhn Quintet. Weather permitting, we'll also light a few bonfires to warm up by on a crisp fall night. 6:30-8:30pm, no registration necessary. Parking is very limited, so public transit or bikes are encouraged.
