Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre

The Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre is part of the AT&T Performing Arts Center in downtown Dallas's Arts District. Dedicated in 2009, this 80,300-square-foot, twelve-story building seats about 600 people depending on stage configuration. It houses the Dallas Theater Center, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, and Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico. Designed by REX | OMA with Joshua Prince-Ramus and Pritzker Prize winner Rem Koolhaas, its revolutionary stacked vertical layout reimagines traditional theater design. The exterior features vertical anodized aluminum rods that symbolize theater curtain folds. Visitors attend performances by resident companies or other productions. The innovative architecture itself is a draw, with its unique stacked arrangement and curtain-like facade. The flexible stage configurations enhance the audience experience, making it a standout example of contemporary theater in the Arts District.
