Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace has been the official residence and administrative headquarters of the United Kingdom's monarch since Queen Victoria's accession in 1837. Originally a townhouse built for the Duke of Buckingham, it was acquired by George III in 1761. Located in the City of Westminster, the palace is a focal point for state occasions and national celebrations, and its balcony is traditional for royal appearances.
