National September 11 Memorial & Museum

The National September 11 Memorial & Museum is a memorial and museum at the World Trade Center site in New York City, honoring the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The memorial sits on the former location of the Twin Towers, with two square reflecting pools in the center surrounded by a forest of swamp white oak trees. The museum, located below street level, opened in 2014 and contains exhibits related to the events. Visitors can experience the solemn memorial plaza with its reflective pools, each with cascading waterfalls, designed by architect Michael Arad and Peter Walker and Partners. The museum offers artifacts, personal stories, and educational displays that provide a deeper understanding of the attacks and their aftermath. The site is a place for reflection, remembrance, and learning, open to the public since 2011 for the memorial and 2014 for the museum.
