New Amsterdam Theatre

The New Amsterdam Theatre is a Broadway venue at 214 West 42nd Street in Manhattan's Theater District. Built from 1902 to 1903, it was one of the first theaters in Times Square and features a Beaux-Arts exterior and an Art Nouveau interior, both designated New York City landmarks. The theater is operated by Disney Theatrical Productions and seats 1,702 across three levels. Its main entrance is through a 10-story wing on 42nd Street, while the auditorium lies behind, facing 41st Street. Visitors can attend acclaimed Disney musicals such as The Lion King, Mary Poppins, and Aladdin, staged in the historic auditorium with ornamental foyers, a reception room, and lounges. The building originally included a roof theater opened in 1904, which is now disused. The venue offers a chance to experience Broadway history and architectural details from two artistic movements.
