Rockefeller Center

Rockefeller Center is a large complex of 19 commercial buildings spanning 22 acres in midtown Manhattan. The 14 original Art Deco buildings, commissioned by the Rockefeller family, sit between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, split by a sunken plaza and private street. Later additions include modern towers. It was built during the Great Depression and is a National Historic Landmark. Visitors come for the famous ice-skating rink, the annual Christmas tree lighting, and Radio City Music Hall. The complex is filled with public art, and an expansive underground concourse connects the buildings. Shops, restaurants, and observation decks offer something for everyone.
