The Battery

The Battery is a 25-acre public park at the southern tip of Manhattan, overlooking New York Harbor. Bounded by the Hudson River and harbor, it features Castle Clinton, an early 19th-century fort, plus multiple monuments and the SeaGlass Carousel. The park and its surrounding South Ferry area contain ferry terminals to the Statue of Liberty National Monument and Governors Island. Visitors can stroll through the transformed park, which was revitalized by the Battery Conservancy in the 1990s.
