The Shed

The Shed is a cultural center in Manhattan that commissions, produces, and presents a wide range of activities in performing arts, visual arts, and pop culture. It opened in 2019 and is housed in the Bloomberg Building, adjacent to the High Line and near the Chelsea gallery district. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Rockwell Group, the building features a retractable shell that creates a large space called The McCourt for performances, installations, and events. Visitors can experience a 500-seat theater, two levels of exhibition space, and ever-changing programs that range from cutting-edge theater and dance to visual art exhibitions and pop culture happenings. The Shed’s innovative architecture and dynamic programming make it a destination for anyone interested in contemporary culture and live events.
