Space Needle

The Space Needle is a landmark observation tower built in Seattle Center for the 1962 World's Fair. At 605 feet tall, it was once the tallest building west of the Mississippi River and is engineered to withstand strong winds and earthquakes. Visitors ride an elevator 41 seconds to an observation deck 520 feet above ground. From there, you get panoramic views of downtown, the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, Mount Rainier, Mount Baker, Elliott Bay, and Puget Sound islands.
