George and Vulture

The George and Vulture is a historic restaurant in the City of London, situated off Lombard Street. An inn has existed on this site since 1142. The establishment is famously mentioned over 20 times in Charles Dickens's novel The Pickwick Papers (1837), and the author himself was a frequent patron. It has long been a revered City steakhouse and was once a meeting place for the Hellfire Club. Visitors can experience the Dickens Room, home to the Dickens Pickwick Club since 1950, and the venue for the Dickens family Christmas gathering. The restaurant is renowned for its Pickwick Pudding, a steak and kidney pudding served with poached oysters, available during oyster season on Thursdays. The building, dating from the early 18th century, is Grade II listed and currently run by Samuel Smith Old Brewery.
