Kensington Gardens

Once part of the private gardens of Kensington Palace, Kensington Gardens now belong to the Royal Parks of London and are generally open to the public. The gardens are administered jointly by the City of Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and they cover an area of 107 hectares (265 acres). They are situated immediately west of Hyde Park in west London. Together with Hyde Park, Green Park, and St. James's Park, Kensington Gardens contributes to an almost continuous swathe of green space known as the 'green lung' in central London. As a Grade I listed park on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens, it offers visitors a historic and scenic environment ideal for a relaxing stroll or a picnic. The gardens retain a royal heritage while providing ample open space for the public to enjoy.
