The Old Vic

The Old Vic is a 1,000-seat, nonprofit producing theatre in Waterloo, London. Established in 1818 as the Royal Coburg Theatre, it later became the Royal Victoria Theatre and was rebuilt in 1871. After damage in 1940 air raids, it was listed as Grade II in 1951. The theatre was the birthplace of the National Theatre of Great Britain in 1963 under Laurence Olivier, and it underwent complete refurbishment from 1982–1983 under Canadian ownership.
