Vauxhall Gardens

Vauxhall Gardens is a public park in Kennington on the south bank of the Thames, originally New Spring Gardens, open before 1660. From 1785 to 1859 it was a celebrated pleasure garden with entertainment such as tightrope walkers, balloon ascents, concerts, and fireworks. After closing in 1859, the land was redeveloped. In the late 20th century, part became a public park, renamed Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens in 2012 and managed by Lambeth Council. Visitors can stroll through the trees and shrubbery, enjoying a peaceful green space with historical significance. The park's past as a hub for entertainment and romantic meetings adds character. A tile motif at Vauxhall tube station commemorates the gardens.
