Los Angeles County Museum of Art

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) sits on Wilshire Boulevard in the Miracle Mile district, part of Museum Row next to the La Brea Tar Pits. Founded in 1961 after splitting from the Los Angeles Museum of History, Science and Art, it moved to its current complex designed by William Pereira in 1965. The museum expanded significantly from the 1980s onward with additional buildings. As the largest art museum in the western United States, LACMA attracts nearly a million visitors each year. Its collection of more than 150,000 works spans art history from ancient times to the present. Beyond galleries, the museum offers film screenings and concert series, making it a vibrant cultural destination.
