MacArthur Park

MacArthur Park, originally named Westlake Park, dates back to the late 19th century. Located in the Westlake neighborhood, it was renamed in the early 1940s after General Douglas MacArthur and later designated a City of Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument. The park features a lake fed by natural springs, although an artificial bottom was added during Red Line construction in 1993. A fountain with a reflecting pool once existed on the northern end, also spring-fed. The Westlake/MacArthur Park metro station is across the street, making it easily accessible for a stroll or picnic.
