Cameo Theater

The Cameo Theater, built in 1936, is an art deco building at 1445 Washington Avenue in Miami Beach. It became a major venue for punk and hardcore music starting in July 1985, when Richard Shelter booked the first show featuring Canadian band D.O.A. Visitors can step into the historic space that hosted legendary acts like Black Flag, Ramones, and Dead Kennedys. The theater was the heart of an all-ages underground scene, with local favorites the Drills frequently opening shows. Its hot pink and lime-green facade recalls the vibrant 1980s alternative culture.
