Jay Pritzker Pavilion

The Jay Pritzker Pavilion is a bandshell in Millennium Park, designed by architect Frank Gehry and opened in 2004. It serves as the home of the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, hosting one of the nation's few remaining free outdoor classical music series. The pavilion features a stainless steel headdress and a sophisticated sound system that replicates an indoor concert hall experience, with a capacity of 11,000. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of performances, from mainstream rock to classical and opera, as well as physical fitness activities like yoga. All rehearsals are open to the public, and trained guides are available for music festival rehearsals. The pavilion's lawn seating initially offered free entry for all concerts, and the venue has been praised for its accessibility, receiving an award in 2005 for being one of the most accessible parks worldwide.
