Lurie Garden

Lurie Garden is a 2.5-acre green space at the southern end of Millennium Park. It features a combination of perennials, bulbs, native prairie grasses, shrubs, and trees, and serves as the natural centerpiece of the world's largest green roof. The garden was designed by GGN, Piet Oudolf, and Robert Israel, and opened in July 2004. It is divided into two "plates" protected by large hedges: a dark plate representing Chicago's history with shade-loving plants, and a light plate symbolizing the city's future with sun-loving perennials. Visitors can enjoy guided walks, lectures, interactive demonstrations, family festivals, and picnics. The garden's design and plantings change with the seasons, offering a peaceful retreat and an opportunity to learn about native and ornamental plants. It is a popular spot for both relaxation and education, making it a worthwhile stop for anyone exploring the city's public spaces.
