Northerly Island

Northerly Island is a 119-acre human-made peninsula and park on Chicago's Lake Michigan lakefront. Originally constructed in 1925, it hosted the Century of Progress world's fair and later Meigs Field airport. Since the airport's closure, it has become a recreational area within the Museum Campus, connected to the shore by a causeway at its northern end. Visitors can explore the Adler Planetarium, catch concerts at the Huntington Bank Pavilion, or stroll through the Northerly Island Natural Area and 12th Street Beach. The park also features numerous art installations, and Solidarity Drive is lined with neoclassical sculptures of Tadeusz Kościuszko, Karel Havlíček Borovský, and Copernicus.
