Symphony Center

Symphony Center is a music complex at 220 South Michigan Avenue in Chicago’s Loop, designed by architect Daniel Burnham. It includes the 2,522-seat Orchestra Hall (1904), Buntrock Hall, Grainger Ballroom, a public rotunda, the Forte restaurant and café, and administrative offices. The complex underwent a $110 million renovation completed in 1997 and is a National Historic Landmark. Visitors can attend performances by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Chorus, or Civic Orchestra of Chicago. The Grainger Ballroom overlooks Michigan Avenue and the Art Institute, while the rotunda and restaurant offer additional spaces to explore. Orchestra Hall’s historic architecture and designation as a National Historic Landmark make it a notable cultural destination.
