United Center

United Center is a major indoor arena on Chicago's Near West Side, opened in 1994. It is home to the Chicago Bulls of the NBA and the Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL. With a seating capacity of up to 23,500, it is the largest arena in the NBA and the second largest in the NHL. The arena replaced the historic Chicago Stadium and is owned by the families that own both teams. It has hosted hundreds of sporting events, concerts, and two Democratic National Conventions (1996 and 2024). In 2020, it served as a municipal emergency hub during the COVID-19 pandemic. Visitors can attend Bulls or Blackhawks games, concerts, and other events. Outside, a statue of Michael Jordan in his iconic flying pose greets fans (moved inside an atrium in 2017). The arena also features statues of Blackhawks legends Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita. The first event was WWF SummerSlam, and the venue continues to host major shows and gatherings year-round.
