Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance

Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance is an 80-acre nonprofit zoological garden and conservation organization located in City Park. Founded in 1896, it is the most visited paid attraction in Denver, operated by the Denver Zoological Foundation and funded by the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, ticket sales, and private donations. Visitors come to see the zoo's pioneering naturalistic habitats, which began with Bear Mountain—the first in the US to replace barred cages. Today, highlights include Primate Panorama with mesh tents for apes and monkeys, Predator Ridge for rotating predators, and Toyota Elephant Passage with five areas for rotating species. The zoo is also recognized for its environmental leadership, earning the first AZA Green Award and being named the "Greenest Zoo in the Country."
