Pioneer Fountain

Pioneer Fountain, also known as Pioneer Monument, is a fountain and sculpture by Frederick William MacMonnies in Denver. It initially featured an Indian warrior at its top, but after protests it was replaced with a statue of Kit Carson. The Carson statue was temporarily removed in June 2020 as a precautionary measure. Indigenous activists criticized the monument for glorifying Carson, who led a violent campaign against Navajo people. Visitors can view the fountain while the statue's fate remains uncertain.
