Bound Together

Bound Together is an anarchist bookstore and visitor attraction on Haight Street in San Francisco, run by a volunteer collective since its founding in 1976. It carries new and used books, including works by local authors, and coordinates the Prisoners' Literature Project, sending books to incarcerated individuals. The store also hosted the first Bay Area Anarchist Bookfair in 1996. Visitors can explore the unique selection of anarchist and radical literature, while outside, the mural "Anarchists of the Americas" depicts historical figures and has been periodically updated since the 1990s. Inside, the walls are covered with old posters, and volunteers occasionally display chalked slogans. The bookstore is a longstanding independent landmark featured on the San Francisco Chronicle's 49‑Mile Scenic Route.
