Museum of the African Diaspora

The Museum of the African Diaspora is a contemporary art museum located in San Francisco's Yerba Buena Arts District. It occupies the first three floors of the St. Regis Museum Tower at 685 Mission Street. As a nonprofit and Smithsonian Affiliate, MoAD is one of few U.S. museums focused solely on artists of the African diaspora. Visitors can explore rotating fine arts exhibitions developed directly with artists or independent curators. After a 2014 renovation, the museum shifted to exclusively presenting fine art, offering a focused experience without a permanent collection. This makes each visit unique, showcasing contemporary works that celebrate and examine the global African diaspora through painting, sculpture, photography, and more.
