USS Pampanito

USS Pampanito is a Balao-class submarine built for the US Navy during World War II, named after the pompano fish. It completed six war patrols between 1944 and 1945 and later served as a training ship for the Naval Reserve from 1960 to 1971. Today it is a National Historic Landmark, preserved as both a memorial and a museum ship within the San Francisco Maritime National Park Association at Fisherman's Wharf.
